In Chinese medicine there is a channel called the Chong Mai.
It is said to be the first channel for the life force to develop in utero. It has numerous branches throughout the human body, enables one to hold one’s energy internally and vertically and allows Qi to travel within the body.
In many ways it reminds me of the axis mundi of lore, that metaphysical cord which is said to run through the earth’s center to connect its surface to both the underworld and the heavens, and around which the entire universe revolves.
This morning on my walk, a tree which I may have passed a hundred times before, graciously offered me a glimpse of her insides.
Of her spine.
Her Chong Mai channel.
Her essence.
The way in which she grounds her light energy and nourishes her own growth.
I don’t recall much from the time I spent with the shamans, but I was powerfully reminded of the sanctuary and medicine of the Shaman’s Tree.
I am left with a profound sense of kinship.
And deep gratitude ♥️
