It felt as if I was walking on a farm somewhere in the Northwest province this morning – a wide gravel track, shrubby trees, not a single other living soul in sight.
Just God and I under a bright blue sky.
It smelled like the Camino though…

The bushes with sweet yellow flowers I first saw in La Rioja were there, as were the white ‘Wisteria’ trees I met in the park in the park in Burgos last week.
But today for the first time there were also fields of lavender scenting the Way, and reminding me again of that Alice Walker quote from The Colour Purple:
“I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don’t notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back”
It has been the most amazing week
