Camino Francés, Day 3: Pamplona to Puente la Reina

Today I walked from Pamplona, up the hill pass, through the middle of the Parque ecológico wind turbines, to the top of Alto del Perdón with its iconic peregrino monument.
And of course down the other side again.

The wind is fierce up there, and icy.

The green fields are dotted with red poppies, and move in the wind like water.

The views go on forever, and no photograph can capture the vastness of Navarre all around you.

A lone golden retriever bounced through a field in a state of pure joy.

Camino markers always appear exactly when one needs them.

I saw a lady leading a blind pilgrim out of Pamplona this morning.

A signpost somewhere claimed that Ciudad del Cabo is 8800km away.
It doesn’t feel that close, or that far away.
