The Splendid Truths* (WIP)

What this is meant to become (whether it retains the title or not), is a list of the lessons I learnt, the insights I had and the Truths (yes, with a capital T) that became apparent while I’m on this mad adventure.

And yes, this is a “working document”, and it will change. Often. But I’m going to publish now and update as I go along, instead of keeping it nebulous and in draft form. I think it’s important that these are spoken, so it can live in the world.

But here goes:

  • Take care of the small things. The big things will take care of themselves.

There are many variations of this same Truth, but it all boils down to this

  • Don’t panic when you panic. Take a breath, and then make the ‘higher’ choice.
  • Find the similarities instead of the differences, so you can access your own compassion

Don’t reject something just because it is known by another name. We are all more alike than we are different, and we are all sustained by Universal Truths

  • Give every question a fair consideration.

Not every question asked of me, is a demand or a judgment. Sometimes it is a way of making conversation, sometimes it is a message from the universe to be contemplated. Sometimes there will be a legitimate answer, and sometimes no answer could possibly have a positive outcome.

  • You may have to seriously, seriously consider that what you need right now is a shower and a nap.
  • Feel it, formulate it, write it, but then say it.

There is a reason why confession is considered a sacrament in some traditions and a sacred mystery in others. Talking is good for the soul. It is what makes thought manifest, and what allows insights and wisdom to live in the world.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

*With apologies to Gretchen Rubin. But “Splendid Truth” has such a nice ring to it.
